Everyone Knows That: The Crazy Discovery Of A 1980's Pop Tune

And welcome to The Chronicles of Trevor, where you're never caught up in a world of lies. (Take that, Fox News!)

Today I'm talking about the concluded search for another lost 80s song, Everyone Knows That (hereafter, "EKT").

Before the discovery, people have made very intriguing guesses as to who recorded the song, or where it came from. I thought that it was a Japanese city pop song, sung by an unknown female artist. I thought it was that specifically, since the line "Tell Me The Truth" has a sound similar to the famous "L-R Overlap" that the Japanese language is known for.

But it turns out, most people were completely WRONG!

The song turned out to be one featured 1 hour and 7 minutes into a 1986 adult film called Angels of Passion. People figured out the name of the song by reaching out to the composers listed in the credits, Anglo-Canadian brothers Christopher Saint Booth and Phillip Adrian Booth.

Kinda reminds you of the Please Don't Stop song from that Israeli VHS logo (which I covered in another post), amirite?

But the weird part of this, is that the original person searching for this song, Carl92, said he was watching MTV in the '90s, but people figured out it was from a torrent video file of the film.

AND, the snippet of the song that he uploaded to WatZatSong was 17 seconds long. The song was played during a love scene, and as such, had the suggestive sounds playing over it. He chose 17 seconds where no sounds were heard, other than a bed squeak, which Carl92 said in the post was him eating corn chips.

But on a happy note, the Booth brothers were happy that their song was found. They said that they found the instrumental part of the song, and they just need to find the vocals for a new remastered version. If they don't find the vocals, they said that they'd re-record the vocals with the original instrumental.

Also, they gave people the official lyrics and the title, which is "Ulterior Motives".

Interesting to know. I look forward to the remaster of Ulterior Motives, and I hope you enjoyed this post!
