Welcome to The Chronicles of Trevor, the blog that isn't funded by NFT shills or cryptobros.

You probably remember Flappy Bird. If not, It was an addicting mobile game with a simple premise, guide a bird through gaps between Mario-esque pipes. It was played by over 100,000,000 people worldwide, and was developed and published by a young Vietnamese man named Dong Nguyen. The popularity and extreme addictiveness of his game caused people to break their phones in anger, and a year after he released the game, he put the bird back in its cage, so to speak. After the game's discontinuation, phones with Flappy Bird on them were said to go for a fortune on eBay.
But now, in 2024, Flappy Bird is getting a revival, by an unrelated company.
GameTech Holdings LLC has announced a new Flappy Bird game. People have noticed that it wasn't released by the original creator. This was because GameTech legally STOLE THE TRADEMARK from Dong Nguyen due to the inactivity and lack of renewal from the latter. It was SEIZED by GameTech in court.
When the new and 'improved' Flappy Bird was announced, people on X (formerly known as Twitter), knew that this was a scam.

Yes, this new version of Flappy Bird appears to be a ploy by GameTech to sell Flappy Bird NFTs. NFTs are basically pieces of digital art that are sold via cryptocurrency like Etherium and others. The energy that NFT purchases make are harmful to the environment, since they produce a lot of CO2 emissions. Heck, Even Dong Nguyen posted on X after 6 years of inactivity, by saying this:
When the original creator calls you out for your scams,
you know you've done screwed up!
If you want to get your flappy fix, do the world a favor, and install the original Flappy Bird application from a 3rd party source. I have the original APK on my phone, and it plays like a charm.
