Welcome to The Chronicles of Trevor, the only blog that feels so right!
If you have been following my site, you probably remember my post on "The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet", a musical piece played on German radio in the 80s that has been puzzling many of people on the web since 2007.
But today, I'm talking about another piece of Lostwave that most people don't know about.
Today, I'm talking about a power-metal song that somehow made its way into an Israeli VHS company's logo in the late 80s.
Malibu Video was a low budget video distributor in Israel from the late 1980s. Their logo consisted of movie clips and the above logo image, set to a synth-heavy power-metal track with a female singer. My first guess was that this was a lost Pat Benatar demo track.
Internet users have been stumped by this logo's music. Where did it come from? How did they get it? Did they even hold the rights to it?
Turns out, in May of this year, almost 40 years after the song was released, and an unknown time after the distributor went defunct, these Internet detectives finally found their answer.
The song was originally in the 1986 adult film Please Don't Stop, which I will NOT link for obvious reasons. But, it makes sense, considering the song's suggestive lyrics.
The film, produced by defunct studio Cal Vista, contains music by a band with the likely pseudonym of "Aladdin's Magic Rub". The song, which is named after the film, was featured in the credits, and a 4-minute instrumental was featured in one of the love scenes.
But anyway, the fact that a song from a somewhat unknown adult film made its way to a low-budget VHS distributor from Israel just surprises me. I don't think Please Don't Stop ever GOT an official video release there.
Just saying...
