Music Showcase: A New Series Premiere!

And welcome to The Chronicles of Trevor, the only blog that is like a portal into a magic world.

Today, I am introducing a new series on TCOT, called Music Showcase. If you aren't aware, I like to compose and arrange music, and I play the piano. I have decided to start a showcase of songs that I have made.

On the inaugural installment of Music Showcase, I am celebrating the late, great British musical genius that was Geoffrey Burgon. He was born on July 15 1941, and passed in 2010.
A photograph of Geoffrey Burgon, a man with short curly hair, wearing a tuxedo, sitting inside a convertible. Circa 1980s.

Geoffrey Burgon, pictured above,  was known for composing music like the musical score from Monty Python's Life of Brian, 1991's Robin Hood (the 20th Century Fox film, not Prince of Thieves), and for his other works like a few Doctor Who serials, and several concertos and ballets.

But today, I'm talking about what, in my opinion, is one of his best non-concert works.

Remember when I did my review of the 1988-1990 BBC-TV adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia? He composed the music for it. My favorite piece for the miniseries is the opening theme, titled "Aslan's Theme". I guess it's kinda similar to how the Harry Potter theme is actually "Hedwig's Theme", but it later on became the theme of the entire franchise.

Today, I did a cover of Aslan's Theme, one of countless covers I have done, but this one has to be my best one yet!

I used GarageBand, and multiple instrument banks (SoundFonts). The realistic strings, a solo french horn, flute, clarinet, and timpani drums were external SoundFont banks. The sharp, shortened string chords in the middle section, and the oboe at the end are default instrument samples already built into GarageBand.

Here's the result. I think Geoffrey Burgon would've totally enjoyed this cover!

NOTE: The blue background is the only visual.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this cover, and I hope to share more musical compositions of my own, as well as some covers. Thanks for reading, and for listening to my cover!
