TikTok. You've seen PLENTY of videos with its intrusive watermarks, and have heard many of its overused songs.
But the owner of the app, Beijing-based ByteDance Technology Co., Ltd. (NOT TikTok Pte. Ltd, as shown on the app info page), have unloaded another spy operation onto the app store.
Lemon8 is an Instagram knockoff developed by the company responsible for TikTok and the video editor CapCut. My mom is on TikTok (unfortunately) and she recently downloaded Lemon8. I guess she now has 2 times the Chinese spies on her phone.
Well, they've been pushing that extremely sour bootleg of Meta's popular image sharing app ever since the various ban attempts against TikTok.
But I remember my Aunt is also on there too (sadly) and she recorded me sleeping and scaring me. I told her to delete it because I don't want my likeness on there. 2 months after that, I got a phone call from a number with +68 in front of it. It was a number from BEIJING! I am sure it was one of ByteDance's spies.
I would rather watch a clock all day than use TikTok; I'd rather eat a rotten lemon than install Lemon8. As for CapCut, I already have a competent video editor on my phone: YouCut. It lets you make videos without watermarks. I use a cracked version that allows you to use Pro features for free. So yeah, I don't need CapCut. But I could just use some scissors and a bottle cap. (LOL)
