Review: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (1988 BBC Adaptation)

This is The Chronicles of Trevor, the blog that is a magic portal to another land, right inside your web browser.

Today, like I said, I am starting a review of all of the 1988-1990 BBC adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia. This is because a YouTube user named "K. Nakanishi", as a fun project they did at work, made a fanmade remaster by upscaling, and recoloring each part of the series to 1080p HD quality by using the DVD copies and a video editing application called DaVinci Resolve. Thanks, Nakanishi-san, for glowing the original world of Narnia up!

Starting off, we have
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (1988).
A woman in a fanciful silver crown, riding a sleigh.
The White Witch, the antagonist of this part.

A lion, standing in front of two flags being held by two fawns, out of view from the image.
The legend himself, Aslan! He is my spirit animal, literally!

The corpse of a wolf-man, with the blade of the sword that slayed said wolf-man
One of the first battle scenes in this adaptation. Peter's blade even has some blood on it!

a group of animated birds and a pegasus.
Yup, there's some animation in this as well.
a young boy with slicked-back blond hair riding an animated pegasus.
I'd want to ride on that animated pegasus! That looks like fun!

A lion with his mouth open, roaring at the camera.
RAWWWR!

The pros of this 1st part are as follows.
The mixture of live-action and 2D animation make this a visually stunning production, while somewhat dated by today's standards. The music by Geoffrey Burgon is like Turkish Delight for your ears, and the Aslan puppet is one of the greatest achievements ever in the history of British TV.
The cons are that the White Witch can be kind of scary for younger viewers.
I'd give this a 10/10.

Tomorrow: My review of Prince Caspian & The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1989). Due to this, my review of Finding Dory will be moved to next Sunday.
